General Strike November 2

OAKLAND, California – The recently renewed #OccupyOakland General Assembly has ratified a city-wide General Strike for November 2nd. Read the statement on #OccupyOakland.
Below is the proposal passed by the Occupy Oakland General Assembly on Wednesday October 26, 2011 in reclaimed Oscar Grant Plaza. 1607 people voted. 1484 voted in favor of the resolution, 77 abstained and 46 voted against it, passing the proposal at 96.9%. The General Assembly operates on a modified consensus process that passes proposals with 90% in favor and with abstaining votes removed from the final count.

PROPOSAL:

We as fellow occupiers of Oscar Grant Plaza propose that on Wednesday November 2, 2011, we liberate Oakland and shut down the 1%.

We propose a city wide general strike and we propose we invite all students to walk out of school. Instead of workers going to work and students going to school, the people will converge on downtown Oakland to shut down the city.

All banks and corporations should close down for the day or we will march on them.

While we are calling for a general strike, we are also calling for much more. People who organize out of their neighborhoods, schools, community organizations, affinity groups, workplaces and families are encouraged to self organize in a way that allows them to participate in shutting down the city in whatever manner they are comfortable with and capable of.

The whole world is watching Oakland. Let’s show them what is possible
WE STAND WITH OAKLAND!

We as the admins have been working together to do the footwork to bring a legal, peaceful occupy with location being key and time to get it set in motion. I know it is difficult to be patient and I guess we should be addressing more out loud what is going on. We have already made the attempt to get help from anyone willing to no avail. It is hard to get everything together without much help, but we will be expecting to have more of the answers we seek soon. If anyone is willing to pitch in and find out what’s needed please email at occupypanamacity5@gmail.com. Thanks in advance for any help and support.

Since this page is for EVERYONE, the question is what does Everyone want to do?? Have “meetings” as they way they have been? Or, is EVERYONE looking to protest? Stand up and show solidarity with OWS? Is everyone looking to camp/protest? Truly Occupy? This is the question of the day! And we need your responses! If you wish to remain anonymous, please feel free to send us an email at occupypanamacity5@gmail.com just to show your support. Thanks to ALL. Looking forward to some Answers!

(We REALLY need some people to respond. I have yet to recieve any response from anyone. We really need help geting things in order and together. Please respond ASAP if you are able.) Thanks!

OCTOBER 29 – #ROBINHOOD GLOBAL MARCH

Posted from Adbusters:   Link

#RobinHood October 29

This is a proposal for the general assemblies of the Occupy movement.

Eight years ago, on February 15, 2003, upwards of 15 million people in sixty countries marched together to stop President Bush from invading Iraq … a huge chunk of humanity lived for one day without dead time and glimpsed the power of a united people’s movement. Now we have an opportunity to repeat that performance on an even larger scale.

On October 29, on the eve of the G20 Leaders Summit in France, let’s the people of the world rise up and demand that our G20 leaders immediately impose a 1% #ROBINHOOD tax on all financial transactions and currency trades. Let’s send them a clear message: We want you to slow down some of that $1.3-trillion easy money that’s sloshing around the global casino each day – enough cash to fund every social program and environmental initiative in the world.

Take this idea to your local general assembly and join your comrades in the streets on October 29.

Occupy Your Capitol National Event -Oct. 29th 12pm-3pm

“We the people are gathering to recognize the blatant injustices that are being perpetrated by the political and economic structures in our own nation and around the world. In solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, we are creating a way to re-empower the individual and society, so that we may identify and discuss solutions to resolve expressed issues, through recognizing our common humanity. Each day… new people are adding their voice. We invite you to add yours.”

Meet in front of your State Capitol building! It is time to take the Occupations to Government- Let our Politicians know!

Gulf Coast State College, October 22

SATURDAY, October 22,
THE FOOT OF THE HATHAWAY BRIDGE ON THE COLLEGE SIDE. 2 PM. We will gather at municipal park behind Gulf Coast State College near the shore. Those who want to display signs to traffic can do so while those who want to discuss strategies can do so at the picnic tables across the parking lot.

We are UNITED by one cause, Wall Street.
Some of us are young and some are older, some are affiliated with a political party and some are non partisan, some intense about job creation and others focused more on corporate influence in politics, some want to talk about who we are and others want to get out and protest. Wall Street abuse has united us and non of these difference need to divide us.
Focused on the issues that unite us, there are no ‘others’ among us. We are the 99%, the “others” are the 1% that we are exposing

Occupy The Boardroom

“Life gets awfully lonely for those at the top. What can we do to let them know someone’s thinking of them? Maybe they need some new friends! We’ve thought of two ways we can help them with that.” Make your voice heard by the Wall Street elites who wrecked the economy and made the rest of us pay. Click on Occupy The Boardroom and tell them a story that you think they should listen to. Just got a college degree and nothing to show for it? Just got evicted while your banker gets bonuses? Share your special story with someone who ought to know.
If you’re feeling even more generous, why not reach out in a more creative way? Click on a banker below, then read the instructions and examples to get inspired. Maybe your banker needs some kind words, or maybe an intervention. Most importantly, use your imagination! The best, funniest, most revelatory interactions win prizes.”
